Working Remotely for Tallay Law: A Year of Travel and Work-Life Balance in Australia

Published by Jordan Stimpson (Paralegal at Tallay Law)

When we set out to travel around Australia in a caravan for 12 months, we knew we wanted more than just a holiday—we wanted a lifestyle. Thanks to Tallay Law’s remote work model, we were able to experience the best of both worlds - earning an income while exploring some of the most breathtaking places in the country from the comfort of our caravan!

Balancing Work and Travel

Working remotely allowed us to extend our journey, turning what could have been a short-term adventure into a full year of discovery. Mornings might have been spent responding to client emails from a campsite overlooking the ocean, while afternoons were free for hikes through national parks or exploring coastal towns. The key was structure—setting clear work hours and expectations ensured that we stayed productive while making the most of our surroundings.

Staying Connected with Starlink

One of the biggest concerns about working from the road was ensuring a stable internet connection. While mobile hotspots and regional SIM cards worked in some areas, the real game-changer was Starlink. With its satellite-based internet, we had high-speed connectivity even in remote locations—whether parked by an outback waterhole or on a quiet beach far from mobile towers. This made it possible to attend video calls, send large files, and maintain seamless communication with clients and colleagues, no matter where we were.

The Benefits of Remote Work

Working remotely not only made our travels financially sustainable but also enriched the experience. Instead of rushing from one destination to the next, we could slow down, immerse ourselves in each place, and appreciate the journey without the pressure of a strict itinerary. The flexibility also allowed for true work-life balance—whether it was logging off early to catch a sunset over Uluru or taking a long lunch to explore a local market.

Lessons from the Road

This experience reinforced the idea that high-quality work doesn’t require a traditional office. With the right planning, discipline, and technology like Starlink, it’s possible to maintain professional excellence while embracing a nomadic lifestyle. For anyone considering working remotely while traveling, the biggest takeaway is that it’s not just about the destination—it’s about creating a sustainable way to enjoy both work and life.

At Tallay Law, remote work isn’t just an option; it’s a philosophy that enables better work-life balance and higher quality output. This past year has proven that with the right setup, it’s possible to have both adventure and career success—all from the comfort of a caravan.
